Live News

Update: 2nd October 2020

As you will be aware, tighter coronavirus restrictions are now in place in the North East of England meaning you cannot meet people outside of your household in social settings indoors and this includes The Northumberland Club. Please take some time to read the information below on how this impacts your visit to the club.

Playing Sport:

You can continue to take part in organised sporting or licensed physical activity in groups of more than 6 outdoors (in line with LTA guidelines). For indoor tennis, squash and badminton you may only play with members from one household and support bubble (for over 18s). The restriction on sport indoors means that unfortunately we have had to cancel all block bookings in the indoor centre for the foreseeable future. There is an exemption for indoor sports if it is organised for the purposes of someone who has a disability taking part and an exemption for children’s activities.

Only members of the same household are now allowed to sit together in the bar and lounge areas of the Club (including any other indoor seating areas such as the top of the stairs). It is vitally important that all members follow this new law. Enforcement personnel could visit the Club at any time and impose large fines upon both the individual and The Northumberland Club.

It is also advised that you do not meet people outside of your household socially in outdoor settings either.

The bar is table service only (unless you are ordering grab and go) so please take a seat and we will come to you. We won’t clear and clean your table until you have left to minimise contact time.

NHS Test and Trace

It is mandatory for businesses to display the NHS Test and Trace QR code and these are situated at reception and throughout the bar and lounge. Please ensure you use the venue check in option on the NHS Covid-19 app to register attendance at the club. If you are unable to use the NHS Covid-19 App, please report to reception where we will take your contact details.

Online Booking System

It is now more important than ever that all members are considerate when using the online booking system and cancel in good time if you are unable to attend to allow other members to the opportunity to book . Names of all players should be included in every booking. Please note that as of tomorrow, the online booking system will only allow each member to book one gym slot per day in order to ensure as many members as possible are able to access gym slots.

Opening and closing Times

Like many businesses, we have had to review our operating hours and we have taken the decision that as of Monday 5 October we will be opening at 7am on weekdays and weekends. This is a temporary change to reflect lower usage as a result of the restrictions imposed by the virus. The club will close at 10pm on weekdays and weekends with last orders in the bar at 9.30pm.

Thank you for your ongoing support and co-operation during these difficult times.

Take care and stay safe.
