Junior Squash

The Northumberland Club offers a comprehensive Junior Squash Coaching Programme for children aged from 5 to 18, continually evolving over the years under the watchful eye of our experienced coaching panel.

Whilst The Northumberland Club is home to a number of talented junior players at both local and national level we encourage all our players to participate in squash for the fun, social and fitness benefits it brings. We currently offer a Performance Academy to help develop players and
programme provides an ideal foundation for juniors to maximise their individual skills and talents by helping them achieve their personal goals.

Camps

Our squash Camps are an excellent way to get expert coaching from England Squash level 2 coach Jane Dennis to help improve your squash skills, understand the strategies of squash, and immerse yourself in the sport while also having the opportunity to meet and spend time with similarly interested junior squash players.
Takes place during school holidays.

Mini Squash Courses

Mini Squash courses focus on developing skills and tactics. The children are encouraged to enjoy the game and build up confidence to play at a competitive level. Different types of balls are used, and the range is colour coordinated in the traffic light system:

  • The Mini Squash fundation ball is red.
  • The Mini Squash Improver ball is orange.
  • The Mini Squash pro ball is green.

In all our courses and squads, ages are only used as guidelines as players will progress with ability not age.

Squads

Our Squad system allows children to receive more demanding coaching, progressing through from squad 4 to squad 1. We ensure that children continue to develop their game at a suitable ability level and players are encouraged to compete in leagues and tournaments.

Competitive Squash

We appreciate that for a lot of juniors, playing competitive matches is a lot of fun and is a great way of judging progress. The Northumberland Club is able to offer plenty of opportunities for all our juniors and our coaches can recommended the most suitable competitions to enter, many of which are held at our own Club.
