PhysioLocker is a modern, evidence led practice, based in the Northumberland club. We aim to provide you with friendly and honest treatment, helping you to take control of your injuries and get back to what you love. Our clinical expertise can help you recover from your injuries, prevent injury, manage long term conditions, but most importantly, help you understand your body, and how to keep yourself in the best condition, whether that be to perform, or to just to stay active. 

Our sports massage service can also help to ease your aches and pains. Our experienced staff practice a range of techniques to help you relax, regain normal movement, prevent stiffening and ease tension and pain. All of our services are delivered by Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists, with a wealth of experience in the NHS, private practice and sports physiotherapy.

Mike Smith BSc (Hons) MCSP HCPC
Physiotherapy
 
Mike is a specialised MSK physiotherapist, and the lead physio at the club, working with our members since January 2018. He has owned and managed the company PhysioLocker since 2015, operating a student support network and private clinic. He graduated from the University of Cumbria and has worked in both the NHS and private sector since qualifying. Mike’s clinical interests are back pain and sports rehabilitation. As well as treating a wide range of sports injuries, Mike is also a keen tennis player at the club and umpires national league hockey.
 
Gemma Parkin MSc BSc (Hons) MCSP HCPC
Physiotherapy & Sports massage
 
Gemma is a specialised MSK physiotherapist at sports masseuse here at the club. She has extensive sports injury and rehabilitation experience having completed a BSc in Sports Rehabilitation prior to her degree in Physiotherapy. Gemma has worked in both professional and amateur rugby for more than 13 years, as well as the NHS and private healthcare sectors. She is qualified in Pilates teaching, sports massage and acupuncture.  Outside of work she is a season ticket holder for the Newcastle Falcons, she loves walking, HIIT classes and spending time with friends and family.
